Air Jordan 1 OG Colorways

This article belongs to a series of articles about the OG colorways of the legendary streetwear sneaker Air Jordan.

The first, the pioneer, the legend. The Air Jordan 1 is Michael Jordan’s first signature basketball shoe from Nike. It’s designed by Peter Moore, who also worked on several hoops models from the Swoosh alongside the J1.

1. Air Jordan 1 High OG ‘Bred’

- The first Air Jordan 1 colorway was a classic Black and Red makeover on a leather upper. Back then, it was rumored that this shoe was the “banned” pair that Michael Jordan wore for violating the NBA’s uniform policy. But eventually, it was revealed that it was the Nike Air Ship that got banned and not the AJ 1 High.

Nevertheless, it took the “Banned” moniker when it retroed in 2016, where an “X” on the heel pays tribute to the story.

It’s considered to be the best colorway on an Air Jordan 1.

2. Air Jordan 1 High OG “Chicago”

While the Bred is the “Away” colorway, this AJ1 “Chicago” is the “Home” colorway as it sports White underlays.

It’s as iconic as the “Bred”. And definitely still highly coveted today. Designer Virgil Abloh reworked the Chicago 1 with deconstructed details in the Nike x Off-White “The Ten” collection.

Its value remains high as time goes by.

3. Air Jordan 1 High OG “Royal Blue”

Of all the OG colorways, the Royal 1 truly stands out on its own. Mostly because it’s never worn by MJ in an NBA game. The Royal Blue makeover contrasts Michael Jordan’s typical Red, White, and Black pigments that represent the Chicago Bulls.

He did wear this shoe on a Nike photoshoot, though. This third colorway then went on to become another iconic colorway that deserved to be mentioned alongside the ‘Bred; and the ‘Chicago’.

4. Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shadow”

For a rather neutral look that doesn’t need to be separated by Red and Blue, the Air Jordan 1 Shadow keeps it classy.

10. - 14. Air Jordan 1 High OG “Metallic Pack”

The Air Jordan 1 High “Metallic Pack” consisted of six colorways in Orange, Red, Green, Navy, Black, and Purple. It was the first Air Jordan 1 pack to come out in 1985. Metallic accents on the Swoosh and the ankle collar gave them a stunning look.

This pack also concluded the release of Air Jordan 1 Highs during the year. The following Air Jordan 1 releases were the canvas-equipped Jordan 1 KO.
